Congratulations to Officer Geoff Willmann for receiving a life saving award for his actions during a possible opiod overdose in December 2023!
The Valley Volunteer Fire Department commended Officer WIllmann for his actions with the following information.
Officer Willman arrived on scene before Valley Fire, had administered Narcan medication and was performing CPR with an AED attached to the patient. Valley Fire determined the patient had regained a pulse and was attempting to breathe on their own. By the time the patient arrived at the ER, they were awake and oriented.
Officer Willman's quick action and care of this individual is believed to have saved the patient's life. Had Officer WIllman not been there, or not been trained to use his lifesaving equipment, the patient's outcome may not have been as positive.

City of Valley launches Adopt-A-Road Clean-up Program
Residents can choose roadways they want to clear of litter
VALLEY, Neb..—April 4, 2024—Valley is asking residents to “Adopt-A-Road” to help keep land around the city’s roadways free of litter. The City is launching the volunteer Adopt-A-Road program starting today, April 4.
As part of the program, community groups can sign up to pick up litter in any of 20 designated locations in Valley.
“Our Adopt-A-Road program gives residents a chance to be part of an impactful project which provides them the satisfaction of contributing to our community,” said Doug Eggen, Valley Public Works Superintendent. “Our public works department will provide necessary supplies and safety information.”
A map of all available locations in the Adopt-A-Road program is posted on the public works department page of the City of Valley website, valleyne.org. An information sheet, safety rules, and an application can be downloaded from the page too.
Interested parties also may contact Doug Eggen via email at deggen@valleyne.org to obtain an application or submit a completed application.
The City of Valley asks each participating group to commit to picking up litter at least twice a year for a minimum of two years.
All applications must be approved by the city before volunteers can begin picking up trash.

City of Valley to conduct semi-annual hydrant flushing
Residents may experience decreased water pressure or discolored water during this time
VALLEY, NE.—March 26, 2024—PeopleService will be conducting semi-annual hydrant flushing beginning April 1, 2024 and continuing for approximately two weeks.
Hydrants are flushed twice a year to remove the iron and manganese sediment build up in the bottom of the water mains and to ensure proper functioning of hydrants in the event of a fire. The buildup of sediment is caused by iron and manganese in our soil that was deposited into the water mains and service lines before the water was treated in the City of Valley.
During this time, residents may experience unfavorable occurrences with your water supply. Such issues may be a reduction in water pressure and a discoloration of your water. If possible, it is recommended you refrain from using water when you notice hydrants being flushed in your immediate area to reduce the chance of loose sediment entering your service line. If water must be used while flushing is occurring in your immediate area and the water is discolored, residents should run their faucets for approximate 15 minutes to flush their service lines of sediment.
If the discoloration persists more than 15 minutes, you may contact the utility clerk or report the issue through the online citizen concern form located on our website or app:

Campaign for Clean Drains.
We have seen an increase in cleaning wipes being flushed down drains which causes lift station pumps to clog and reduces their lifespan.
Check out the information from PeopleService regarding what things can be flushed!
